reflecting on the week imageThe good, the bad, and the ugly

All three in one week

Hi again. This week has been one of contrasting feelings for me. If you recall, I did a video interview last week and got that up on the blog a mid-week. Didn’t turn out too bad I think.

Also had a good session with my coach. Loads of new ideas to put into practice going forward. Another high point for the week.

It seems that I am able to rank quite easily on page 1 of both Google and Bing when I want to, so obviously something is going right there.

Unfortunately, not a lot of traffic is coming through from those rankings, although I have made some sales from the reviews I have done. That is definitely a positive. I am not sure if they have come from search traffic, or social media traffic though. I need to work on tracking this better. A project for the weeks to come.

I could do more reviews and hopefully make more sales but I really want to be super picky about what I promote. If it can’t help me right now, I expect that it likely will be the same for anyone else starting out. I don’t want to focus on maximum income right now. I would much rather stick to what I started out to do – show others how to build an online business by doing it myself.

Now for the not-so-good. I have not been posting on social media as much this week. This is due to me working on some other things to build the business, which were quite time consuming. Also, I missed a couple of days posting on the blog for the same reason. This feels like a partial failure on my part. I had resolved to post every day on the blog, and several times a day on social media.

The reality of building an online source of income is taking its toll on my motivation right now. It is a lot of work, and consistency is a key factor in success. The thought had even crossed my mind, on a couple of occasions, that I was taking on too much. I soon put these out of my head though. I knew this wasn’t going to be easy. Why should it shock me at all. Anything worth having is worth working for.

So I got back in the saddle and kept on going, and here I am. Working nights and working on the business when I get home.

I have found myself checking statistics quite frequently this week. Disappointment inevitably raises its head when there have been no new visits to the blog since I last checked. The same when nobody new has visited the Facebook page. I don’t know what I expect really. I am still building a presence. I think, in time, the visits and engagement will get to a point where I can be happy with it. I suppose I am just being impatient.

There are some things I have accomplished this week though. I have had a video introduction created for me, and I have discovered how to edit the audio on that. This took a lot of time to get right, and I am not really sure it is completely right yet. Time will tell. I have also set up a YouTube channel. I am yet to upload any videos to it but it is another thing crossed off the ever-growing to-do list.

What’s next then? This week I am going to try to get back into the routine of posting every day on the blog, and several times a day on Facebook. I am worried that over-posting on social media will annoy some people though. I need to mix it up; not all business. Something I learned in Ben and Anji’s FB Commission Code course.

I will try to get a couple of videos posted on the YouTube channel as well. I will put the link in a post when there is something to look at. I am also going to try out a new tactic on my coach’s suggestion, and I will be working on a new free eBook to give away to subscribers to the newsletter. Watch out for that in the next couple of weeks. If you are already subscribed I will shoot out an email with the link to download it so you don’t miss out.

One thing I have noticed this last couple of weeks is that, every time I can see some evidence of progress, it strengthens my resolve to make this work. I just need to keep reminding myself why I am doing this when the results are not immediately noticeable.

Til next time, take care.

Kev
